What Season Are You In?

Just as the weather goes through seasons of change so does each of our lives. We must physically transition from bathing suits and shorts to sweaters and boots. But, what about our mindsets? Does it change based on the season of life that we are in?

Your current season could be full of sunshine, or it could be full of rain and storms. Are you only happy when your life is full of sunshine or are you able to still feel joy when it is pouring rain in your life?

When you have your health, finances are good, career is good, family is good it is easy to be happy and full of joy. But what happens when one or more of those things is off?

The bible says that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”  It does not specify which night or which morning. It could be in the morning in 2 weeks or in 2 years. Ouch, I know we do not want to hear that it could be that long but there are some seasons that last longer than others.

The key is finding the joy and lesson in each season. The same way that we have Fall and the leaves must shed so they can grow again and provide us with shade in the hot summer months. Your dry season operates the same.

There is something for you to get out of that season. Something that you need to learn that is preparing and pruning you for the next season.

I have learned in every dry season that I came out of (and there have been plenty). I needed to be there at that time. There were things that I was mentally, emotionally, and physically being prepared for that if I did not go through the dry season, I would not have been equipped to handle what was next.

And what was next was always better and so worth the dry season.

During the dry season, instead of being down and discouraged, Ask yourself what is it that I need to learn here? What things are in my control? What can I do to be the most productive in this season? I truly believe that our attitude during the dry season is a primary factor of how long our dry season last.

I encourage you today. If you are in your dry season. Make the best of it. Find things to do that make you happy. Maybe you can't afford MAC right now, but you can go to the Dollar Tree and purchase those same colors and create a fabulous look.

Perhaps, you are in your Single season. You can still cook yourself an amazing gourmet meal, light candles and have a delicious dinner experience for 1. Make the best of your dry season.

When you come out, you will appreciate the season and yourself so much more!
